Water Sampling and Testing

The source of life and existence

More than 70% of our earth’s surface consists of water. Water is of vital importance to all life on earth. But water is not only of biological importance, is also essential to our social, societal and economic existence. Water is a key aspect of production processes, for example. It is used to cool and to heat. As a medium it is used as a reagent and a solvent. Different requirements are made of the quality of our water depending on its use.

Watering down the wine?

SGS conducts daily controls of the composition of waste water, groundwater, process water, cooling water, drinking water and bathing water. We do not water down the wine, but analyze your samples with the greatest of care and accuracy for their chemical, biochemical or microbiological quality. The results of our analyses are checked against the requirements set by your organization or the authorities.

A deluge of experience

Over the course of years SGS has built up an unparalleled reputation in the determining of the quality of water. We have monitored the quality of seawater across the whole of Europe, the quality of drinking water in large towns and cities and we conduct flow rate or time-proportional waste water sampling for various types of companies.

Our expertise includes a.o.

  • Analysis of inorganic parameters (anions, metals, nutrients)
  • Analysis of organic parameters (solvents, mineral oil, PAH's, pesticides)
  • Sampling of groundwater from deep and shallow measuring wells
  • Sampling of drinking water
  • COD, BOD, pH and conductivity
  • Various analysis packages (drinking and groundwater packages, fecal soiling, pathogenic germs)
  • Microbiological analyses
  • Technical advice relating to waste water purification techniques
  • Time- and flow-related measuring campaigns
